STUDY OF PESTICIDE SYNTHESIS RESIDUAL PRODUCTS IN COMMERCIAL CHLORPYRIFOS FORMULATIONS

A method to separate and identify manufacturing residual products (MRP s) in commercial formulations of chlorpyrifos is presented, The method is based on 3 stages: (1) qualitative study by capillary gas chromato graphy, (2) separation by liquid chromatography, and (3) identificatio n by mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, Us ing this methodology, the authors identified different MRPs in commerc ial chlorpyrifos: a phosphorochloridothioic acid O,O-diethyl ester chl oride, TCP (3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-ol), and sulfotep (tetraethyl dit hionopyrophosphate).
