Abstract
Background. Trisomy-8 is a numerical chromosomal aberration. It's pathogene tic causality is uncertain. The syndrome shows low incidence and cognitive deficits in very different patterns, making developmental prognosis a diffi cult task. Case report. In the case study presented here, history, medical and results in developmental neuropsychology are reported over a period of 7 years. Re peated assessment showed deficits associated with perception and coordinati on, and above that the patient's impairment to keep pace with the intellect ual development in the age-group. Functional deficits in the cerebral commi ssures are discussed as a possible cause. Moreover, applied remediation tech niques, and implications and risks for the patient's future development are presented.
