Abstract
Calorimeters play an important role in experiments operated at present acce lerators and will continue to do so in the future. The field of calorimetry is very wide and only a few examples can be reviewed in this paper. As far as present accelerators are concerned, we will describe the performance of a few, recently commissioned, precision electro-magnetic (EM) calorimeters . As an application to future accelerators, we will briefly review the stat us of calorimetry for the proton-proton experiments at the Large Hadron Col lider(LHC). (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
