Abstract
We have tested the imaging properties of a system based on a GaAs matrix th at performs the direct detection of photons in the range of radiographic in terest. The detector is bump-bonded to a VLSI single photon counting electr onics. The imaging properties of the system have been evaluated in terms of the presampling MTF and the DQE(nu), that allow an absolute characterizati on of imaging properties of digital systems. We have tested other radiograp hic imaging systems in standard clinical conditions, using the same functio ns and we have compared them with the GaAs matrix system. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
