The process of nonuniform magnetization reversal of an infinite thin magnet
ic strip was studied by analyzing reduced Brown equations and numerically s
olving equation of motion of the magnetic moment simultaneously with solvin
g the magnetostatic problem. The appearance of new branches of major and mi
nor hysteresis loops corresponding to stable and unstable magnetization dis
tributions with changes in the dimensions of the magnetic strip is predicte
d. The effect of the edge pinning of magnetization depending on the dimensi
ons of a strip and the magnitude of the bias magnetic field is analyzed. Di
agrams that show the domains of existence of the basic types of hysteresis
loops in the space of parameters, i.e., the strip width, the strip thicknes
s, and the bias magnetic field, were obtained.
