Abstract
A series of hyperbranched polymers were synthesized in high yield by self-c ondensing vinyl polymerization (SCVP) of 2-[(2-bromobutyryl)oxy]ethyl metha crylate (BBEM) in the presence of an ATRP initiator: THABP (a tetrafunction al initiator)/CuBr/bpy. The structure and properties of the polymers obtain ed were characterized by NMR and SEC/RALLS/DV/RI. The effect of the tetrafu nctional initiator on degree of branching (DB), molecular weight and molecu lar weight distribution of polymers was studied. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
