The sorbability of various cereals, hempseeds, and microcrystalline cellulo
se in the sorption of Cu(II) ions from neutral, acid, and weakly alkali aqu
eous solutions was studied. The sorbability with respect to Cu(U[) ions dec
reases in the order: hempseeds > oatmeal approximate to buckwheat > millet
> pearl barley approximate to corn > rice approximate to microcrystalline c
ellulose. Effective magneto-resonance parameters of the complexes formed we
re determined. Suggestions were made about the composition and structure of
the coordination sphere of Cu(II) ions chemically bound to foodstuffs comp
ounds.
