M. Gundel et U. Schatzmann, BACK-PROBLEMS IN THE HORSE .2. A COMPARIS ON OF CLINICAL EXAMINATION DEPENDING ON USE AND BREED, Pferdeheilkunde, 13(3), 1997, pp. 207-212
The literature on clinical examination of horses with suspected back p
roblems is most thoroughly described by the work of Jeffcott (1978-199
5), but based on material primarily from thoroughbreds and thoroughbre
d crosses. Furthermore these horses are primarily used in racing, hunt
ing or eventing. in comparison the material of this study is based on
primarily warmblooded horses used for dressage, showjumping or pleasur
e riding. This paper compares the findings of back problems in these h
orses with the current literature, discussing their similarities and d
ifferences.
