In traditional kinetic studies, a parameter such as recovery is expressed i
n terms of reaction time, temperature and other process variables. This app
roach requires a large number of experiments for formulation of a generaliz
ed equation. Statistical design of experiments not only generate empirical
equation but also analyse the data statistically for a given confidence lim
it. In this study, experiments are carried our on alkali roasting of chromi
um oxide at low temperature according to predetermined matrix of fixed valu
es of variables and also a set of experiments at base level to study the re
producibility. An empirical equation has been developed.
