Abstract
Progress in China on developing prediction models using remote sensing, geo graphic information systems and climate data with historical infection prev alence and malacology databases is reviewed. Special reference is made to t he effects of the Yangtze river Three Gorges dam project on environmental c hanges that may impact changes in the spatial and temporal distribution and abundance of Schistosoma japonicum in China, and the future success of dis ease control programs.
