Abstract
In both scid and BALB/e mouse-Leishmartia. donovani models, hexadecyphospho choline (miltefosine) and AmBisome had similar levels of activity. In contr ast, sodium stibogluconate (Pentostam) was significantly less active agains t L. donovani in scid mice than in BALB/c mice. The in vitro anti-leishmani al activity of miltefosine was similar in peritoneal macrophages derived fr om both scid and BALB/c mice, whereas Pentostam and AmBisome were significa ntly more active in the latter.
