We present a high-resolution (22" FWHM) extended map at 2.1 mm of the Sunya
ev-Zeldovich effect toward the most luminous X-ray cluster, RX J1347-1145.
These observations have been performed with the Diabolo photometer working
at the focus of the 30 m IRAM radiotelescope. We have derived a projected g
as mass of (1.1 +/- 0.1) x 10(14) h(50) (-5/2) M-circle dot within an angul
ar radius of theta = 74" (i.e., projected radius of 0.6 Mpc, H-0 = 50 km s(
-1) Mpc(-1), Omega (m) = 0.3, Omega (Lambda) = 0.7). This result matches ve
ry well the expected gas mass from the cluster models of X-ray data. With a
n unprecedented sensitivity level, our measurement does not show significan
t departure from a spherical distribution. The data analysis also allows us
to characterize the 2.1 mm flux of a well-known radio source lying in the
center of the cluster, F-RS(2.1 mm)= 5.7 +/- 1.6 mJy.
