F. Yoshizawa et al., Rapid dephosphorylation of eIF4E by dietary protein in the skeletal muscleand liver of food-deprived rats, BIOS BIOT B, 65(4), 2001, pp. 958-961
The effect of dietary protein on eIF4E phosphorylation mas examined in rats
starved for 18 ii and then fed on either a 20% casein diet (20C) or a prot
ein-free diet (OC). Refeeding with the 20C diet, hut not the OC diet, resul
ted in partial dephosphorylation of eIF4E in both the skeletal muscle and l
iver, The results suggest that the dephosphorylation of eIF-1E in response
to food intake tvas regulated by the increase in plasma amino acid concentr
ation that occurred after feeding with the 20C diet.
