Pd/Mg(Al)O samples (0.05 < Pd < 0.5 wt%) were evaluated in the gas phase re
action of acetone with hydrogen to methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK). The catal
ysts were prepared by impregnating a calcined Mg-Al layered double hydroxid
e with Pd acetylacetonate in toluene solution. The highest selectivity to M
IBK was achieved with ca. 0.2 wt% Pd and size of Pd particles of ca. 3-5 nm
.
