Abstract
We report the first unambiguous detection of X-ray emission from the c luster of galaxies surrounding the radio-quiet QSO E1821 + 643, ROSAT PSPC observations show that the cluster is highly luminous, L-x simila r to 10(45) erg s(-1), as would be expected from the high Abell richne ss class (greater than or equal to 2) seen in optical studies. The clu ster is expected to contribute an iron line of apparent equivalent wid th 20-142 eV to the integrated spectrum.
