abuse and dependence. Among the main areas of current activity discussed a
re: the development of new instruments and shortened versions of existing o
nes; demonstration of the applicability to populations other than the one f
or which the instrument was developed; investigation of alternative modes a
nd formats of administration; identification of predictors of substance use
