K. Matsumoto et al., Construction of a photogalvanic cell using photosynthetic reaction center complex and cytochrome c(2) from Rhodospirillum rubrum, ELECTROCH, 69(5), 2001, pp. 340-343
The photosynthetic reaction center complex was immobilized on a p-benzoquin
onethiol-modified Au electrode. The potential of the reaction center-immobi
lized Au electrode in 0.1 M (M = mol/dm(3)) Tris-HCl buffer (pH 7.5) was sh
ifted, upon illumination, to the negative direction, and the value increase
d with increasing the intensity of incident light. In addition, the potenti
al shift was enhanced by adding cytochrome c(2) to the solution. A photogal
vanic cell was constructed only using this electrode, cytochrome c(2), and
an ITO electrode with hydrophilic surface, and the cell performance was exa
mined. The open-circuit photovoltage and the short-circuit photocurrent wer
e about 5 mV and 40 nA, respectively.
