The cathodic behavior of tetraalkylammonium iodides was studied at a polish
ed palladium cathode in aprotic dimethylformamide (DMF). Coulometric and el
ectrochemical quartz crystal microbalance analyses allowed to show the form
ation of phases, the stoichiometry of which was fully determined. The rever
sible insertion of tetraalkylammonium cations as well as the electrolyte in
to palladium was demonstrated. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights re
