S. Barathi et N. Vasudevan, Utilization of petroleum hydrocarbons by Pseudomonas fluorescens isolated from a petroleum-contaminated soil, ENVIRON INT, 26(5-6), 2001, pp. 413-416
A strain of Pseudomonas fluorescens. isolated from petroleum hydrocarbon-co
ntaminated soil was examined for its ability to utilize a variety of hydroc
arbon substrates. Surface tension measurements indicated the production of
biosurfactant during the microbial degradation of hydrocarbon. The organism
utilized both short and long chain n-alkanes. It emulsified a number of al
iphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All right
