The enzymatic activity of soils is shown to decrease under the impact of po
llution with yperite and the products of its hydrolysis. The response of en
zymatic activity to these pollutants depends on the soil type, the degree o
f pollution, and the nature of particular enzymes. Invertase, dehydrogenase
, and urease are the most sensitive to the considered toxicants. The enzyme
s restore their activity with time, which may be due to the chemical and bi
ochemical destruction of toxicants.
