Abstract
Photochemical reaction of 1,5-cyclooctadiene with Fe(CO)(5) gives the compl ex 1,5-cyclooctadienetricarbonyliron 1, which on treatment with Ph3CBF4 at room temperature affords the dienyl salt 1,5-cyclooctadienyltricarbonyliron tetrafluoroborate, [C8H11Fe(CO)(3)]+BF4- 2. 2-Bromomethyl-3-sigma -methyle nequoinoxaline sodiumtetracarbonylferrate [C8H4N2CH2BrCH2Fe(CO)(4)Na] 3 rea cts with the dienyl salt in THF at low temperature to give a novel organome tallic complex [C8H4N2CH2BrCH2Fe(CO)(4)](-) [C8H11Fe(CO)(3)] 4 by ion pair annihilation reaction. Similarly, the dienyl salt on nucleophilic attack by metal carbonylate anion [Na2Fe(CO)(4)] 5 gives an organometallic complex [ (C8H11)(2)Fe-3(CO)(10)] 6 at -10 degreesC.
