Abstract
The contribution of glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) (gamma -glutamyltransfera se [EC 2. 3. 2. 2]) to Helicobacter pylori virulence nias investigated in p iglets and mice using GGT-deficient isogenic strains. All animals became co lonized. However, the bacterial load, vas significantly lower for mutant bac teria than for parent strains. These results suggest that GGT activity prov ides an advantage to H. pylori in colonization.
