M. Jertborn et al., Local and systemic immune responses to rectal administration of recombinant cholera toxin B subunit in humans, INFEC IMMUN, 69(6), 2001, pp. 4125-4128
The induction of immune responses to rectally administered recombinant chol
era toxin B subunit (CTB) in humans was studied. Three immunizations induce
d high levels of CTB-specific antibody-secreting cells, particular of the i
mmunoglobulin A isotype, in both rectum and peripheral blood. Antitoxin ant
ibody responses in rectal secretions and serum were also found.
