Abstract
A Shigella flexneri isolate resistant to oxyimino-cephalosporins was recove red from a stool sample of a 16 month-old Algerian child hospitalized in Pa ris, France, This isolate harboured an SHV-2 beta -lactamase gene located o n a c. 80 kb self-transferable plasmid, This is the first report of an Ambl er class A extended-spectrum beta -lactamase from Shigella spp.
