Abstract
The multiscale method has been applied in J. Math. Phys. 41, 6399 (2000) to evolution PDEs to obtain various nonlinear Schrodinger-type equations. Her e these results are exploited to derive necessary conditions of integrabili ty for nonlinear, real, evolution PDEs in 1+1 dimensions. These conditions are given by explicit formulas, and several examples are detailed. (C) 2001 American Institute of Physics.
