The possibility of local-field enhancement in a high-temperature solid-dens
ity femtosecond laser plasma induced on a modified target surface by laser
radiation with an intensity of 10(15)-10(16) W/cm(2) is investigated. The a
mplitude of the local field may effectively increase in a plasma if the pla
sma temperature is sufficiently high (T-e > 500 eV) and the ionization degr
ee is sufficiently low (Z <10). If these conditions are satisfied for plasm
as produced on silicon and aluminum gratings and in carbon foam with optima
l parameters, then the local electromagnetic field can be enhanced by a fac
tor of 3-5, the temperature of the hot electron component may increase from
5 to 15 keV, and the yield of soft and hard X-ray emission may become noti
ceably higher.
