Abstract
The present paper reports the knowledge of various family planning methods among rural inhabitants of West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. All resp ondents know the concept of family planning. Though all people know about p ermanent sterilization, very few have the knowledge of other methods. These figures are slightly higher than all India figures reported in National Fa mily Health Survey, 1992-93. The association of various social and demograp hic characteristics of the respondents on the knowledge was investigated. T he variables such as age, education, income and age at marriage are strongl y associated with the knowledge of number of family planning methods.
