The article discusses relations between globalisation and local capitalism.
Despite an increased globalisation of the international economy, economic
actors continue to be spatially and culturally situated. A methodology to d
iscuss global;local relations is presented, and applied in a fishery-depend
ent region in Norway. An intensive study of two important fishery communiti
es describes and explains how spatial and cultural conditions influence the
