Control of the dynamics of ovarian follicular waves in superovulation programmes in cattle

In this review possibilities of controlling the dynamic of ovarian follicul ar waves during the estrous cycle in cows and their practical application i n traditional superovulation programmes were presented, Hormonal (progester one, oestradiol, hCG, GnRH, rBST) and physical (puncture and aspiration of large ovarian follicle) methods of induction and control of wave emergence were presented as well as their advantages and failings, and their influenc e on the effectiveness of superovulation, Special attention was paid to new investigations on the influence of active or passive immunisation against inhibin or follstatin, applied before initiating the superovulation program me in donor cows.
