The potency of Metrisan AN preparation in the therapy of the MMA syndrome in swine

Investigations were performed concerning the effective therapy of Metrisan AN, composed of: ampicilline, neomycine and substances which increase the p hagocytic activity of granulocytes during MMA syndrome in swine. It was dem onstrated that the curative activity of Metrisan AN was expressed by a more rapid cessation of discharge from the genital tract and restoration to the normal secretion of milk within 24-48 hours after intrauterus infusion of that preparation. The application of Metrisan AN into the uterus was also p rofitable to the pigs' fertility. Piglets born to sick sows who had intraut erus Metrisan AN applied were characterized by higher weight 35 days after birth, a lower percentage of diarrhoeal in their litter as well as a lower mortality.
