Abstract
Microsporidia are obligate intracellular parasites, which can cause complic ations in immunocompromised individuals. Very little is known about the hos t immune response generated against these infectious agents. Encephalitozoo n cuniculi is the best studied microsporidian and the protective immune res ponse against this parasite is mediated by cytotoxic CD8(+) T cells.
