P. Dubrous et al., SUSCEPTIBILITY TO FOSFOMYCIN OF MULTIRESI STANT SEROTYPE O12 PSEUDOMONAS-AERUGINOSA - MULTICENTRIC STUDY, Pathologie et biologie, 45(6), 1997, pp. 472-478
In a multicentric study including 214 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginos
a, we observed that serotype O12 is more frequently sensitive to fosfo
mycine than other serotypes strains (72 % vs 13,2 %, p<0,000 001). Tim
e killing experiments demonstrated that combination of ceftazidime-fos
fomycine and amikacine-fosfomycine have usually bactericidal and syner
gistic activities and could be used for the treatment of multiresistan
t Pa O12 infections, However, an antagonism between beta-lactams and f
osfomycin in disk diffusion needs an adequate concentration of both an
tibiotics in the site of infection.
