D. Rogalla et al., Recoil separator ERNA*: improved measurements of the astrophysical key reaction C-12(alpha,gamma)O-16, NUCL PHYS A, 688(1-2), 2001, pp. 549C-551C
The recoil separator ERNA (European Recoil Separator for Nuclear Astrophysi
cs) for improved measurements of the astrophysical key reaction C-12(alpha,
gamma)O-16 is being developed at the 4 MV Dynamitron tandem accelerator in
Bochum to detect directly the O-16 recoils. The total detection efficiency
of about 50 % allows direct measurements in a much wider energy range than
previously accessible. In addition this technique allows improved measurem
ents not hampered by cosmic background problems when compared to gamma -ray
detection.
