The status of searches for oscillations using neutrinos produced in the lab
oratory is reviewed. The most recent results from experiments approaching c
ompletion are reported and the potential capabilities of long baseline proj
ects being developed in USA and Europe are considered and compared. The ste
ps that should naturally follow this new generation of experiments are outl
ined and the impact of future facilities - such as neutrino factories or co
nventional superbeams - in precision measurements of elements of the neutri
no mixing matrix is discussed.
