Abstract
The vortex dynamics of two-dimensional, incompressible, inviscid flows is s hown to possess a self-consistent, canonical Hamiltonian structure in Lagra ngian space. The general set of evolution equations is derived for a Cartes ian and a cylindrical coordinate system. (C) 2001 American Institute of Phy sics.
