E. Vasilescu et al., The effect of plastic deformation upon the titanium and Ti-1Ni-0.5Mo ternary alloy in 10% oxalic acid corrosion resistance, REV CHIM, 52(3), 2001, pp. 127-129
The influence of the plastic deformation degree on the corrosion resistance
of the ternary Ti-1Ni-0.5Mo alloy in acid oxalic 10% at 25 degrees, 50 deg
rees, 75 degreesC, in comparison with the base metal is presented. The pote
ntiostatic and linear polarization techniques and the evolution of the corr
osion potential with the time, point out the fact that, this allow is metas
table in the corrosion media. This metastable slate is reflected in tile sh
ape of the anodic polarization curves which present cathodic current peaks
on the anodic branch of the curves. These characteristics of the behaviour
are explained admiting an;I,,odic partial fixed curve and cathodic partial
curves with variable slopes which depend on the plastic deformation degree
of the alloy. The corrosion rates increase with the increasing plastic defo
rmation degree and the alloy, as well as the titanium are, "relative stable
".
