Ta. Balakaeva et al., Ruthenium(IV) nitroso complexes with morpholine: the crystal structure of (OC4H8NH2)(2)[Ru(NO)Cl-4(OH)], RUSS J IN C, 46(5), 2001, pp. 660-665
The reaction of morpholine NHC4H8O (Morph) with (NH4)(2)[Ru(NO)Cl-5] was st
udied. Procedures for the synthesis of (MorphH)(2)[Ru(NO)Cl-4(OH)] (I), (Mo
rphH)(2)[Ru(NO)Cl-5] (II), [Ru(NO)Cl(OH)(2)(NH3)H2O)] (III), and [Ru(NO)Cl(
OH)(2)(NH3)(2)] (IV) were developed. The structures of I-IV were studied by
IR spectroscopy. Complex I was performed studied by X-ray crystallography.
Its crystals are triclinic: a = 9.675 Angstrom, b = 10.210 Angstrom, c = 1
0.668 Angstrom, alpha = 114.97 degrees, beta = 101.25 degrees, gamma = 103.
30 degrees, Z = 2, space group PI. The structural units in I are the comple
x anions [Ru(NO)Cl-4(OH)](2-) and the morpholinium cations (NH2C4H8O)(+). I
n the Ru coordination polyhedron, the conventional equatorial plane is occu
pied by the four chlorine atoms. The Ru atom is displaced from this plane b
y 0.1 Angstrom toward one apex occupied by nitrogen of the nitroso group. T
he second apex is occupied by the hydroxo oxygen atom. The Ru-N distance (1
.724 Angstrom) is typical of a linear nitroso group. Both independent morph
olinium cations have chair conformation.
