Abstract
Michael addition of ethyl acetoacetate and acetylacetone to heterocyclic al dehydes gave, respectively, 2,4-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)- and 2,4-diacetyl-3-het aryl-5-hydroxy-5-methylcyclohexanones as mixtures with the corresponding en ols. Reaction of the addition products with hydrazines afforded 4,5-trans-2 -alkyl-5-ethoxycarbonyl(or acetyl)-4-hetaryl-6-hydroxy-6-methyl-4,5,6,6-tet rahydro-2 H -indazoles with high stereo-selectivity.
