The recovery of zinc(II) with tributyl phosphate and CYANEX(R)923 from mode
l HCl solutions was studied. Classical dispersive extraction, and none-disp
ersive extraction in a two compartment BLM cell and in two parallel hollow
fiber modules were investigated. It was found that zinc(II) can be recovere
d from HCl solutions with tributyl phosphate both in extraction and membran
e processes. CYANEX(R)923 is too strong extractant to achieve effective str
ipping. A blocking of the membrane-strip interface is observed in bulk liqu
id membrane experiments. An addition of TBP does not improve the extraction
-stripping characteristics of CYANEX(R)923.
