New molecular complexes of C-60 and C-70 with BMPP: synthesis and crystal structure

New molecular complexes of fullerenes C-60 and C-70 With organic donor 4-be nzoyl-3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazoline-5-one (BMPP): BMPP .C-60 and (BMPP)(2) C-70(C6H6)(0.5) were obtained. The crystal structure of BMPP .C-60 was dete rmined. The complex has a threedimensional packing of fullerene molecules i n which each fullerene molecule has six adjacent C-60 ones. The conformatio nally flexible BMPP molecule forms Van der Waals contacts with the spherica l C-60 molecule by nitrogen atoms and phenyl groups. The data of IR-spectro scopy indicate a neutral ground stale for the complexes. BMPP .C-60 shows l uminescence similar to C-60 luminescence.
