Abstract
X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy was applied in the comparative study of mul tiwall carbon nanotubes synthesized by catalytic process and are-discharge graphite evaporation. The spectrum of the former kind of nanotube indicated an enhancement of density of pi occupied states that, as semi-empirical AM 1 calculation of model structures showed, may be due to the linkages betwee n shells.
