Abstract
Defects in metallic carbon nanotubes have been studied within the tight bin ding model using the transfer matrix approach. A newly developed method for obtaining transfer matrices in a general way has been utilized, enabling u s to compare nanotubes with various chiralities. The localization length wa s calculated for a random disorder in the onsite potentials, as well as for a functionalization type of disorder.
