Am. Van De Craats et Jm. Warman, The influence of chain-to-core coupling on the charge transport and mesomorphic properties of discotic materials, SYNTH METAL, 121(1-3), 2001, pp. 1287-1288
The charge carrier mobilities in discotic liquid crystalline materials cons
isting of peripherally alkyl chain substituted triphenylene (T), phthalocya
nine (Pc), and peri-hexabenzocoronene (HBC) cores have been measured using
the pulse-radiolysis time-resolved microwave conductivity technique (PR-TRM
C). The use of more bulky coupling units joining the mesogenic alkyl chains
to the core, e.g. sulphur or para-phenylene, results in charge transport a
nd mesomorphic properties more favorable for device applications than the f
requently used coupling via an oxygen atom.
