Abstract
A novel organic-inorganic hybrid compound, C10H10N2PbBr4, was prepared by r eacting lead bromide (II) with 4,4'-bipyridinium dibromide, The result of s ingle crystal X-ray analysis indicated that the crystal has one-dimensional chains of line-sharing PbBr6 octahedra. The absorption and fluorescence sp ectra of the crystals also indicate the formation of one-dimensional inorga nic chains and the quantum confinement effect.
