Electric conductivity and ultraviolet photoelectron spectra (UPS) of potass
ium doped 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) were measure
d. The conductivity of potassium doped PTCDA film jumps up to 0.1 Scm(-1) f
rom around 106 Scm(-1) of pristine one. Potassium doping to PTCDA also brin
gs change in the upper valence band UPS; spectral onset moves closer to the
Fermi level (E-F). These phenomena can be attributed to electron transfer
from potassium to PTCDA, which is confirmed by MNDO molecular orbital calcu
lation.
