High resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS), in impact mecha
nism regime, was used to investigate the near gap range of alpha -quaterthi
ophene, alpha -quinquethiophene and alpha -sexithiophene in thin films. Urb
ach's energy E-U was estimated for each film and found to be in good agreem
ent with E-U values found by optical spectroscopy for other organic materia
ls.
