Abstract
Here we describe a new chromene bearing at their 3 position terthiophene an d quaterthiophene. When optically excited, these molecules undergo a struct ural change passing from a neutral state (closed form) to a strongly polari zed one (open form). This photochromic process is also accompanied by a lar ge increase in the electrical conductivity.
