Abstract
Both low-molar-mass and conjugated polymer materials have been investigated as possible electroluminescent components of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). However, the applications of low-molar-mass liquid crystals as ch arge-transport layers and as sources of polarised electroluminescence have not been the subject of significant investigation. Therefore, a range of lo w-molar-mass polycatenar materials incorporating various chromophores has b een synthesised and their liquid crystalline behaviour as well as their pho toluminescent and electroluminescent properties have been evaluated.
