Abstract
Soluble polypyrrole (Ppy-DEHS) in various alcohols are chemically synthesiz ed using functional doping agent, di(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate sodium sa lt (NaDEHS), which has non-polar alkyl chains and polar oxygen atoms. The w eight average molecular weight (Mw) of Ppy-DEHS appeared to be 32,547 which corresponds to 158 pyrrole rings in the polymer chain. Ppy-DEHS films cast from the various alcohols showed the electrical conductivities of 10(-2) s imilar to 10(-5) S/cm at room temperature. This improved solubility in alco hol was explained in terms of the hydrogen bonding between alcohol and oxyg en in sulfosuccinate.
