Abstract
The monomeric tetrathiapentalene precursor 1 can be polymerized oxidatively in one step to the charged, conducting hybrid polymer 3. Treatment of 1 wi th nitrosonium salts or SbCl5 gave polymers of general structure 3 with ele ctrical conductivities ranging from 10(-3)-10(-1) Scm(-1). Reduction of 3 g ave the neutral, soluble polymer 4 which comprises approximately 35 monomer ic units (M-w = 10000).
